A Sustainable Company
“We don’t inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children”.
It’s not clear who originally spoke these words, but the message is clear: the Earth is our responsibility to take care of, for the sake of future generations.
When we started Amabile Designs, we knew there was no other option than sustainability.
We wanted our products to be both eco-conscious and ethical from curation to creation to sale.
With that in mind, our materials have been thoughtfully sourced to create quality and sustainable products that we all can be proud of and enjoy.
We are excited to introduce you to ECONYL® regenerated nylon.
Imagine oceans where sea turtles and other sea creatures can swim about their natural habitat unscathed by human waste.
Wouldn’t it be a dream to be able to avoid the 4,600 sea turtle fatalities caused by fishing nets each year…in the US alone.
ECONYL® regenerated nylon is made by recovering nylon waste - such as fishing nets from the oceans and aquaculture, fabric scraps from mills and carpets destined for landfill – and turning it into virgin quality nylon yarn for the fashion and interior industries.
Not only are they cleaning up nylon waste, ECONYL® regenerated nylon reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 90% compared with material generated from oil! For every 10,000 tons of ECONYL® raw material, 70,000 barrels of crude oil are saved, and 57,100 tons of CO2 equivalent emissions are avoided.
Our glass beads adorned on our nylon thread really bring life to our products.
The Krobo Tribe in Ghana, Africa has perfected the glass bead making process over the centuries. Their technique is unique to their area and has become a worldwide fashion trend known as “African Recycled Glass Beads”.
Glass waste is collected that would have otherwise been bound for the landfill.
The Krobo people then use this collected glass and press it into a powder. The powder is then melted and placed in bead molds.
Once the beads have been formed, the stem of a cassava leaf is placed in the the bead to form the hole. The heat from the furnace consumes the leaf. Upon close examination of your bead, you may be lucky enough to find the black flakes left by the leaf!
Once the beads come out of the furnace, they are then hand polished by rubbing the beads with sand.
The handmade nature of the beads contributes to the uniqueness of each individual bead. Giving you a truly one of a kind bracelet.
Think of all jewelry can represent; romance, sentimental heirlooms, and special occasions; all things precious. Rightfully, silver is considered a precious metal.
Sterling Silver consists of 92.5% pure sliver and 7.5% other metals such as copper.
All silver used in our bracelets is 100% recycled.
Silver mining disrupts the ecosystem by forcing wildlife out of their homes. Further environmental damage occurs from heavy machinery emissions and environmental contaminants.
Recycled silver reduces emissions by two thirds and allows ecosystems to remain intact.
We source our silver from a reputable company that takes silver scraps and purifies it down for reuse.
We are then able to cast and polish up pieces to clean the waters where you live and play.
We are working hard to provide ethical and sustainable, quality bracelets that are sourced from recycled materials.
Your bracelet not only looks great, you can feel great each time you wear it knowing that you made a purchase that not only supports your local waters, but was made in a manor that protects our natural resources.
